Łódź Fabryczna Station is one of the most modern railway stations in Poland.

Project Description

Łódź Fabryczna Station is one of the most modern railway hubs in Poland, located on the line to Koluszki. Originally opened in 1866 at the initiative of Karol Scheibler, it underwent a full-scale redevelopment from 2011 to 2016. Today, it serves as a key part of the New Centre of Łódź and integrates train, bus, tram, bike, and car traffic.

Challenges

The redevelopment required a complete transformation of the transport infrastructure, as well as the design of a multi-level facility extending 16.5 meters underground, while ensuring access to natural daylight. It was the third-largest railway investment in Europe at the time of construction.

Applied Solutions

The station features a glazed roof with skylights made of COOL-LITE® solar control glass. Hundreds of square meters of 66.4 PLANICLEAR® tempered glass balustrades enhance the sense of open space. All glass was processed at the Saint-Gobain Glassolutions plant in Pruszków.
