Forskaren
Hagaesplanaden Stockholm Sweden
DESCRIPTION
Forskaren - the 24,000 m2 building - is a new hub for knowledge exchange and collaboration with world-leading players in healthcare, academia, research, and business located in the heart of Hagastaden’s dream district.
The circular shape of the building, steps out from floor to floor, creating balconies around a large inner atrium space. In this sense, Forskaren is organised around concentric rings that promote interaction and collaboration. Its design and materiality align with Swedish building industry standards for sustainable construction. Forskaren demonstrate its sustainability ambition with LEED Platinum, WELL v1 Gold, and Miljöbyggnad Gold certifications.
Glazing on the façade provides a high level of solar control to reduce cooling needs, while allowing generous amounts of day-light to flood in - ideal for maintaining visual comfort and overall wellbeing.
CHALENGES
The building demonstrates a harmonious blend of innovation, sustainability and functionality with full of daylight that promotes social interaction among all users. Façade plays a crucial role in achieving this effect.
SOLLUTIONS
The facade integrates two extremally high-performance solar control glazing:
COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II on the floors 2-5 and COOL-LITE® XTREME 61/29 II on the top floor, both on DIAMANT® extra- clear glass in combination with thermal insulating glass ECLAZ® LUMI. This combination of insulated glazing units provide full of day-light, stable indoor thermal comfort to reduce cooling needs (more than half of the solar energy is reflected back through the glass). This not only helps to create an inspiring work environment where people thrive but also contributes to the building’s overall energy performance and less negative impact on environmental.
