Forest Campus
Burakowska Warszawa Poland
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Nature served as the inspiration for the Forest Campus in Warsaw. This new office complex is one of the most environmentally friendly developments in the Polish capital, bringing nature back into the metropolis. The façade features vertical brown louvers reminiscent of tree bark. The buildings range from six to ten stories high and form an open rectangle that surrounds a lushly wooded courtyard. The highlight of the complex is a three-part tower reaching 120 meters in height. The campus offers nearly 80,000 m² of innovative office space with a flexible layout. Retail and dining areas are also available on the ground floor. The publicly accessible courtyard, planted with 200 trees, and carefully designed rooftop terraces connect the Forest Campus with the adjacent residential district. This ambitious project was awarded the PLGBC Green Building Award 2021 and has received a BREEAM Excellent certification as well as a WELL certification.
CHALLENGES
The architects and investor sought solutions that would give the building a cohesive visual identity while distinguishing between spaces in terms of solar energy permeability, user comfort, and compliance with multi-criteria certification standards. Various analyses were carried out concerning daylight access, acoustic performance, and thermal parameters.
IMPLEMENTED SOLUTIONS
The glass used on the façade contributes to the Campus’s high energy efficiency standards and reduction of carbon footprint. The solar control glazing COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II and COOL-LITE® SKN 176 II protect interiors from overheating thanks to their low solar factor (g-value), which reduces the energy demand needed to ensure thermal comfort. At the same time, the high light transmission value (Lt) allows a large amount of natural daylight into workspaces.
