PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Chopin Airport in Warsaw, located in the Włochy district, is the largest airport in Poland and the main hub for LOT Polish Airlines. Situated just 8 km southwest of the city center, it handles domestic, international, and cargo flights. In 2016, the airport served over 12.8 million passengers. As part of the terminal’s modernization, Saint-Gobain Glass products were used to enhance the architectural appeal and functionality of the building.

CHALLENGES

The main challenge of this project was to combine visual appeal with technical performance—ensuring passenger comfort while meeting demanding specifications such as solar control and durability in a high-traffic environment. Maintaining a cohesive visual identity with the airport’s existing structure was also essential.

SOLUTIONS APPLIED

The terminal’s façade features MASTER® POINT patterned glass, whose delicate texture adds elegance and movement to the contemporary design. To further enhance the building’s performance, COOL-LITE® solar control glass was installed, maintaining thermal comfort by reducing heat buildup during warmer months. Saint-Gobain Glass supports modern architecture by creating spaces that are both functional and welcoming.
